Abstract Margaretta Pringle Childs (1912-2000) worked as an archivist at the College of Charleston, was head archivist for the City of Charleston, and a field archivist for the South Carolina Historical Society. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in 1882 in Charleston, South Carolina after the church divided from Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, due to its inability to accommodate all its members.
